Dainu Devis is an engineer and strategist, Chief Executive Officer of Sharktech Global and Divine Lab Worx, and a subject matter expert engaged through the Guidepoint network.
I have always been drawn to problems that look unsolvable from the outside. These fields share one demand: clarity under pressure, and systems that cannot fail.
My Australian engineering career began in fibre. At Visionstream (now Ventia) I was a junior project engineer and then a site engineer on NBN and Telstra fibre builds across New South Wales, including a 700 metre submarine fibre crossing between Frenchs Forest and Willoughby. I then became Area Manager at Ventia for Telstra InfraCo critical infrastructure facilities in New South Wales, responsible for more than 2,200 active network sites, with a zero HSE incident record and multimillion dollar capital savings. Alongside these roles, I worked as an international business consultant, drawing on my background in concurrent product and process design. That environment taught me to see the fragilities others had stopped questioning.
Since then I have advised a national government on economic and digital strategy, guided an international manufacturer into a regulated market, and I now lead Sharktech Global as Chief Executive Officer. My foundation is a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science in Mechanical Engineering from UNSW, specialising in Concurrent Product and Process Design.
One thing most people do not know: I was a competitive chess player. You stop reacting to what is in front of you and start reading what is coming.
